BTEC First Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Education) (Level 2)
Introduction
The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the skills required to participate in and lead outdoor adventurous activities including an overnight expedition. The course also develops an understanding of anatomy and physiology as well as fitness training, nutritional and physiological aspects of outdoor activity participation. The programme is equivalent to four GCSE grades A-C and is studied full-time.
Core Units
You will also develop your key skills in the areas of communication, application of number, information technology and improving own learning and performance.
You may also have the opportunity to study first aid, coaching awards or the Community Sports Leader Award. You may wish to participate in recreational or competitive sport as part of the college's enrichment programme.
Learners on the programme may also have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities residentials during the course, ie. the Mountain Centre in Scotland for a varied programme of adventurous activities.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade D or an appropriate level 1 qualification. An interest in and willingness to participate in practical outdoor activities and sporting/fitness activities is essential.
